Traditional fabric "Kain Tenun Ikat Sumba" is proposed to UNESCO

Ikat typical East Sumba, East Nusa Tenggara, proposed to the Organization of Education, Science and Culture of the United Nations or UNESCO as world cultural heritage. Making fabric is tough, not easily imitated weavers from other regions. Motifs woven in the tradition of the people of Sumba is themed fauna, flora and culture.

Motives and most famous woven fabrics are from the village of Uda time, and about 50 kilometers south Kambera Waingapu. Fabric dye extracted from a special plant, which used to be done before the ritual first. It shows the traditional fabric has a distinctive form in accordance with the culture of people from the village or the tribe.
