Structural Approach in Social Study

This approach is the traditional approach, which is used in the subject matter curriculum. This approach is also called single Discipline Approach or Mono Discipline Approach.

Form (model) that uses this approach of teaching materials / learning materials are organized purely on the basis of a particular social science without joining with other disciplines. Something topics / issues are reviewed and assessed according to specific disciplines. The main focus in the form of teaching is placed on organizing teaching around the facts, concepts, and generalizations which are fundamental to a discipline only. This form of teaching can also be put pressure on the process is usually done by a social scientist when he was doing research.

For example Geography, teaching programs which are prepared only focuses on basic concepts of geography alone without dipertautkan with other science areas of study in family social science. It can also be such a problem of urbanization is reviewed only in terms of demographics alone, or in terms of economics alone.

Thus, this approach is less suited to the nature and mission of the characteristics of social studies who served as field of study that would lead someone to the ability to conduct social interaction. Therefore, this approach is not suitable for young children who are still studying in primary school.
